Platina Partners, a private equity firm specialising in renewable energy buy-outs, has confirmed that it has acquired three solar plants in Italy with plans to buy more. 
India-based wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon has been fined $490,000 by the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency for committing air quality, hazardous waste, solid waste and storm water violations at its manufacturing plant in Pipestone, Minnesota in the US.

US biofuel company Solazyme has recorded second quarter revenues of £7.4m, up from $4.4m in the second quarter of 2010, but this failed to stem the company’s losses. 
US photovoltaic company First Solar announced net sales of $533m in the second quarter of 2011, a decrease of $34.5m from the first quarter and $55m compared with the same period in 2010.
