One of the world’s largest utilities, the China South Power Grid, has completed construction on a huge iron-phosphate battery system capable of charging or discharging more than 12MW hours or 3MW continuously for four hours off or onto the electricity distribution network. 
Chinese solar manufacturer Yingli Green Energy has followed its national rival LDK Solar in engaging in a share repurchase programme that could see the company reacquire up to $100m worth of issued and outstanding American Depository Shares over a one-year period. 
The UK has carried out a last minute pull-back of the launch of its renewable heat incentive scheme, reportedly following complaints by the European Commission that incentives were too high.
