Despite the global credit crunch and decreased energy demand in many countries, more wind energy was installed last year than ever before, writes Ben Block of the Worldwatch Institute. Germany continues to lead Europe in wind energy installations, with 1,917MW added last year. It ranks behind the United States and slightly ahead of China in total installed capacity.
