Reservoir Capital and its local partner Geofizika-Ing have begun running tests on two geothermal wells in southern Serbia.
The companies are measuring water temperature, pressure, flow rates and chemistry through a 12 month period to assess the reservoir’s potential for renewable electricity generation.
Reservoir’s exploration permit covers an area of 1,750ha near the town of Vranjska Banja.
The wells cut through several hot water aquifers, the hottest with a temperature of 126°C at a depth of 864m to 890m.
Reservoir, based in Canada, is a renewable energy company focused on Serbia. It is currently involved in development of a 58.4MW hydroelectric project at Brodarevo in the south-west of the country.
The Frankfurt-listed company holds four geothermal exploration licenses and has applied for another hydroelectric license to develop a 32MW project at Vrutci in Serbia.
