UK waste management firm Biffa acquires PHS Wastetech

23 Jan 2014

investment-170SQHigh Wycombe, UK-based waste management firm Biffa has acquired the commercial waste business of PHS All Clear, known as PHS Wastetech, for £2.5m.

PHS Wastetech specialises in general dry waste services and has a turnover of some £25m.

With a customer base of 12,000, the acquisition also brings four new operating locations for Biffa.

Biffa only recently acquired Shanks’ solid waste business and this latest acquisition sees the firm growing its energy and processing operations even further. Biffa processes waste to divert it from landfill, recycling it or converting it into energy.

Ian Wakelin, CEO of Biffa, said, ‘Today’s acquisition is another step forward in our strategy to grow market share and enhance our leading industrial and commercial services. We will swiftly integrate PHS Wastetech into Biffa’s national infrastructure and excellent customer service platform, further strengthening our position as the UK’s leading integrated waste management company.’
