Brazilian oil company Petrobras is to invest $2.4bn in biodiesel and ethanol production for the 2009-2013 period, 91 per cent of which to be made in Brazil. This amount is part of the total of $2.8bn Petrobras earmarked for the biofuels business, which also foresees expenditures of $400m in infrastructure, such as ethanol pipelines. The total resources represent an 87 per cent increase compared to the previous business plan, the company said.
