US renewable fuels provider New Generation Biofuels to replace $1m licensing payment with common stock and cash

US renewable fuels provider New Generation Biofuels has reached an agreement with Ferdinando Petrucci and PTJ Bioenergy Holdings to replace the upcoming $1m cash payment for its technology license due in equal installments on 20 February and 20 March 2010 with 1.1 million shares of the company's common stock and $120,000 in cash.

  1. I also wonder if the differing tax treatments of royalty payments and stock and cash payments made a difference.
