The International Energy Agency has warned that without a change in policy, the world is on a path for a rise in global temperature of up to 6°C and that to limit the temperature increase to about 2°C and stabilise greenhouse-gas concentration to 450ppm, termed the ‘450 Scenario', energy-related CO2 emissions need to fall to 26.4 gigatonnes in 2030 from 28.8 gigatonnes.
