US utility Direct Energy has launched a new brand in Texas offering consumers 100 per cent renewable energy from the state’s wind turbines.
The New Leaf Energy offering will allow customers to fix electricity rates for a maximum two-year period, or a contract free variable tariff.
Rob Comstock, senior vice president at Direct Energy and general manager for its Texas residential business, said, ‘New Leaf Energy is committed to renewing the future, one household at a time.
‘It meets one of the industry’s highest standards by sourcing only 100 per cent green certified renewable wind energy, at rates designed to make renewable energy easily accessible for consumers. As more people sign up with New Leaf Energy, more renewable energy is produced.
‘New Leaf Energy customers can make a difference in our environment for only about $25 per month over average market electricity rates. That’s about the same as one premium cup of coffee a week — helping to renew the future shouldn’t break families’ budgets.’
