Kyocera, a Japanese producer of solar cells and electronic devices, reported an 80.7 per cent drop in profits for the first half of this year despite drastic cost-cutting measures. Net income fell to ¥8.73bn ($96m) from ¥45.2bn ($496m). Sales declined 27 per cent from ¥658.7bn ($7.23bn) to ¥483.9bn ($5.31bn).
