Solarlite, a German solar trough company based in West Meckelburg, has announced the development of the successful down-scaling of concentrated solar power (CSP) technology.
France’s Tenesol, a global solar power provider, has engaged in a joint venture with AGC Vertal Sud-Est in Lyon, with an agreement to produce BIPV crystalline SI modules, starting in 2011. AGC, an established glass maker will produce customised laminated glass modules from specifications provided by Tenesol. 
Integrated French solar company Solairedirect has raised €80m for the further development of its solar projects in France and abroad. The company also claims that they have reduced the production cost (levelised cost of electricity) to an unprecedented €0.154/KWh produced. 
Murphy & Spitz Green Energy, the German green energy power provider, has signed on a 660KW photovoltaic project in the Czech Republic, seeking to draw on a favourable feed-in tariffs. The project based in north-western Bohemia, will be built on a brownfield site and will start producing power in November this year. 
The solar photovoltaics (PV) market needs to progress from heavy, rigid structures that are expensive to ship and install, to conformal, thin, lightweight PV structures in order to expand the technology’s applications, according to slim card manufacturer IDTech.

US solar company SunEdison has sold what is anticipated to be the largest solar plant in Europe for around €276m to a joint venture it previously formed with Connecticut, US-based private equity firm First Reserve. 
Thin-film photovoltaic module developer Ascent Solar Technologies has signed a distribution agreement with industrial signage company Megamark/ DisaTech Group subsidiary DisaSolar to distribute its modules for off-grid applications. 
Since recently making its entry into the renewable energy industry, US and Asia-based media and diversified renewable energy company Global MobileTech generated revenue for the first time in 2010, hitting $4.3m after generating no revenue last year.
