Siemens Energy has received an order from Spanish EPC UTE Termosolar Olivenza to construct a 50MW solar power plant in Olivenza, south-west Spain.
The plant, Termosolar Olivenza 1, is owned by Ibereólica Solar Olivenza and is expected to be operational by the end of next year. Siemens will supply all equipment for the project, including the solar receivers.
In fiscal 2010, Siemens received revenue from its environmental portfolio totalling around €28bn, making it the world’s largest supplier of ecofriendly technologies.
The electronics giant has recently made deals in Sweden to supply wind turbines, build an offshore wind farm in the Irish Sea and construct and supply a solar farm in the US.
