The chairman and founder of thin-film solar module developer Ascent Solar Technologies, Dr Mohan Misra, will retire from the company’s board of directors this December.
Misra, who has decided to step-down due to his commitments to family and for other personal reasons, will be replaced by the company’s current director Dr Amit Kumar.
In his entrepreneurial career, Kumar has built technology enterprises from start-up to public listing and worked for venture capital firm Oak Investment Partners and Acacia Research.
He also recently headed-up Nasdaq-listed biotechnology company CombiMatrix.
Kumar said, ‘I look forward to working with the team as we enter the commercial phase of our development.
‘Our challenge is large-scale manufacturing and we have assembled a tremendous team to take us into that phase and into commercialisation.’
Misra said Ascent is entering a new phase of its development indicated by the beginning of its manufacturing expansion activities.
‘Our plant is running and we are working on expanding capacity, improving cost metrics, and delivering product,’ he said.
‘[Misra] has been instrumental in the development of our revolutionary flexible, thin-film technology,’ said the company’s president and CEO Dr Farhad Moghadam.
