Centrica has awarded a contract to energy consultancy GL Garrad Hassan for the design, supply and installation of an offshore meteorological mast system for their Celtic Array project in the Irish Sea.
Located 15km north of Anglesey, the system includes a meteorological mast, power supply system, navigational aids and full suite of measurement equipment.
Colin Morgan, senior vice president and head of offshore wind practice at GL Garrad Hassan, said, ‘We’re delighted to be delivering to this high profile Round 3 project and having the opportunity to use what our Measnet-accredited measurement group has learnt over the past decade from working in the challenging offshore environment in the Irish Sea, North Sea, Baltic and Canada.
‘It’s only by learning from that experience that we can bring to the industry improved standards of quality, safety and cost reduction.’
The Celtic Array development site in the Irish Sea Zone, covering an area of 2,200km2.
The boundaries of the zone are approximately 15km from Anglesey, 20km from the Isle of Man, and more than 40km to the Cumbrian coast. It is being developed by Centrica and Dong Energy.
