The US wind energy industry installed over 1,600MW of power generating capacity in the third quarter of 2009, according to the American Wind Energy Association (AWEA). In its latest market report, the trade association said that the figure was higher than the preceding quarter of 2009 or the same quarter 2008, bringing total added capacity for 2009 to 5,800MW.
