Renewables rise to 5.5 per cent of total UK output according to Department of Energy and Climate Change

Electricity generated from renewable sources in the UK in 2008 represented 5.5 per cent of total UK electricity generation, up from 4.9 per cent in 2007, according to the Digest of United Kingdom Energy Statistics 2009 published by the Department of Energy and Climate Change.
