RWE shelves 1.2GW Atlantic Array offshore wind project

German-owned renewable energy company RWE Innogy has cancelled its plans to develop the 1.2GW Atlantic Array Project and the Round 3 Bristol Channel Zone, due to 'significant technical challenges specific to the zone', the firm said. The firm specifically identified the substantially deeper waters and adverse seabed conditions as central to its decision to axe the project, which would eventually render it an economically unviable venture.
