German chemical giant BASF has made a $50m equity investment into US energy storage company Sion Power. 
With so many competing start-ups in the electric vehicle sector - most without the financial clout to dominate the space - collaborations and eventual mergers are inevitable, an expert has told NewNet. 
US battery specialist Contour Energy Systems has raised $20m through Series C fundraising with Singapore-based global fund EDBI acting as lead investor. 
One of the world’s largest utilities, the China South Power Grid, has completed construction on a huge iron-phosphate battery system capable of charging or discharging more than 12MW hours or 3MW continuously for four hours off or onto the electricity distribution network.
