US alternative fuels company Allard Energy has chosen Synenergy to distribute its bio-refining technology throughout the Midwest. 
A French bioethanol producer has revealed it has cash in the pot ready to make acquisitions as it predicts a strong 2012/2013 growing season. 
The Diversified Ethanol Corporation, a subsidiary of US alternative fuels specialist Greenbelt Resources, has been contracted to supply a $20m distillation and dehydration system for a new biorefinery at the University of Florida. 
Danish biomass specialist DP CleanTech has been contracted by TPK Ethanol to convert a coal-power plant in Thailand to operate on biomass. 
Biorefinery developer China New Energy is close to becoming a major player in the alternative fuels industry with a first half revenue increase of 54 per cent on the 2010 and global interest increasing in Asia as well as Europe and South America. 
Global production of biofuels increased 17 per cent in 2010 to reach an all-time high of 105 billion litres, up from 90 billion litres in 2009. 
The US Department of Energy has made a conditional loan guarantee of $133.9m to Abengoa Bioenergy Biomass to support the development of a commercial-scale cellulosic ethanol plant.

The biofuel subsidiary of Brazilian oil major Petróleo Brasileiro, Petrobras Biocombustível, and ethanol producer São Martinho have created a new joint venture biofuel company in Goiás state in Brazil's midwest region that will be equally governed by the two companies. 
Fuel provider Intertek has opened a new petroleum and chemical testing laboratory in Albany, New York, which will provide testing for ethanol biofuel blends and other products such as ultra-low sulphur diesel, fuel oils, gasoline and asphalt.
