Green investment firm Khosla Ventures has invested $12.5m into biofuels company Cello Energy, according to reports. Cello Energy is based in Alabama, US and develops cellulosic ethanol from waste. Welsh scientists are working on a research project to turn grass into a green transport fuel. Brazilian oil company Petrobras is to invest $2.4bn in biodiesel and ethanol production for the 2009-2013 period, 91 per cent of which to be made in Brazil. This amount is part of the total of $2.8bn Petrobras earmarked for the biofuels business, which also foresees expenditures of $400m in infrastructure, such as ethanol pipelines. The total resources represent an 87 per cent increase compared to the previous business plan, the company said.
