Foresight Group, a UK alternative asset manager focused on environmental infrastructure investments, has signed two contracts for the construction of 10MW of solar photovoltaic projects in Italy. The €50m funding package for the construction includes an equity investment from Foresight's European Solar Fund, alongside project finance facilities provided by two of the few banks actively lending in the current market.

The Brazilian development bank BNDES (Banco Nacional de Desenvolvimento Econômico e Social) has approved a 20 year loan of BRL7.2bn (€2.44bn) for GDF SUEZ to finance the Jirau project, a 3,300MW greenfield hydroelectric power station.

Water companies in England and Wales must invest more in maintenance to improve the environment and reduce the risk of pollution incidents, according to the Environment Agency. A number of serious pollution incidents were caused by poorly maintained, overloaded or ageing sewerage infrastructure.
