In a letter delivered today, 159 US businesses and organisations - joined by 61 individual activists - urged the members of the US Senate and the House of Representatives to focus on sustainable energy technologies and green jobs, but not nuclear power and fossil fuels, when it takes up consideration of the economic stimulus bill this week.

Peak oil in Latin America is less than ten years away, energy integration, nuclear power plants and large scale renewable power generation are necessities to ensure sufficient energy supplies in the future, the region’s governments should play a stronger role in their respective energy sectors and Latin America and the Caribbean is a great place to do energy sector business this year. These are some of the findings to Energy Outlook 2008 from law firm Bracewell & Giuliani.
