Solar companies Abengoa, BrightSource Energy, and Torresol Energy have formation a new organisation, the Concentrating Solar Power Alliance, aimed at lobbying government and pushing forward the industry.

GDT Tek has closed a deal to develop a solar project on 109 acres of land in Desert Hot Springs, California, owned by DHS. 
US inverter specialist Satcon recorded revenue in the fourth quarter of 2011 worth $36m, a decline of $9m from the previous three months and a significant decrease compared to in 2010’s $73m. 
US financial company Metlife and private solar investor Longsol Holdings have purchased a 30MW photovoltaic plant in Texas from SunEdison, for an undisclosed price.
