Low carbon investment firm Osmosis Capital appoints Gerrit Heyns as a partner

17 August 2009

Low carbon investment firm Osmosis Capital has appointed Gerrit Heyns as a partner to explore and develop new distribution opportunities, the firm said.

Heyns joins Osmosis following seven years as an investment banker for Russian bank Troika Dialog where he helped built up the firms’ international equity distribution capability. Previously, Gerrit helped to establish Kleinwort Benson’s equity business in Asia as the firms’ first Head of Equity Sales and has held senior sales positions at major investment banks including Lehman Brothers, where he was Head of Sales for South East Asia, and JP Morgan Securities.

Heyns said, ‘Despite the clear opportunities it offers, the low carbon economy is still regarded, by many investors, as an emerging sector and remains a challenging asset class in terms of access. Osmosis Capital has developed a highly compelling investment proposition and its strong sector expertise sets it apart from many other fund providers in this market. I look forward to working with the team to expand its product range and explore new opportunities for growing the business.’

This appointment follows a number of new faces at Osmosis. Jim Totty was appointed as a partner and senior investment manager in May with the the appointment of Paul Bramley as chief financial officer following a month later.
