NASDAQ-listed Chinese distributed power generation company A-Power Energy Generation Systems has signed a contract with Thai biomass company Biomass Electricity, to develop a 150MW biomass firing power plant in Prachinburi, Thailand.
The $86m contract covers the design and installation of the power station. With an estimated project duration of 27 months, A-Power will be the general contractor for the project’s civic engineering system, the chemical water treatment system, the output system, the electrical system and the thermal control system.
A-Power Energy Generation Systems, through its China-based operating subsidiaries, focuses on energy-efficient and environmentally friendly projects of 25MW to 400MW. In 2008, A-Power entered the wind energy market and in March 2009, the company entered into an agreement to establish a partnership with GE Drivetrain Technologies to produce wind turbine gearboxes in Shenyang. A-Power also has strategic relationships with Tsinghua University in Beijing and the China Academy of Sciences in Guangzhou to develop and commercialise other renewable energy technologies.
