GridPoint adds CabAire, eVco and Plug Smart to its smart charging network

Smart grid software developer GridPoint has added electric vehicle supply equipment manufacturers CabAire, eVco and Plug Smart Intelligent Energy Solutions to its smart charging network.

The manufacturers are provided with solutions for smart grid-enabled charging stations via the smart charging network as well as receiving advice on energy efficiency, load management, renewable integration and storage management.

CabAire designs, manufactures and installs electrical equipment for vehicles, Plug Smart provides energy solutions for plug-in electric vehicles, whilst eVco is a developer of 240-volt fast charging stations.

John Clark, electric vehicle management, GridPoint, said, ‘Electric vehicles are coming soon, and to support them we need a successful electric vehicle ecosystem. Robust smart charging will be a key component of that ecosystem, and we’re happy to be working with utilities and EVSE manufacturers to build it before the vehicles hit the roadways beginning next year.’

GridPoint’s EVSE partnerships provide utilities with a solution to adaptively manage the flow of energy to a wide range of electric transportation endpoints; vehicles and charging stations.

These three companies join a list of nationwide utilities part of the GridPoint initiative, including Xcel Energy, Duke Energy, Austin Energy, Progress Energy and Seattle City Light.
