Hybrid plug-in vehicle Fisker Karma one of the world’s cleanest vehicles according to SAE Methodology

9 September 2009

Fisker Karma, a green vehicle developed by Fisker Automotive, will emit just 83g of CO2/km with an economy rating of 3.5L per 100km according to SAE Methodology, who measure emissions for plug-in hybrid vehicles.

SAE’s calculations suggest the vehicle will produce 75 per cent less carbon emissions than that of competing cars.

Per year Fisker Automotive is hoping their new development will save 941 million litres of gasoline and 2.3 million tonnes of CO2 offset from the sales of 15,000 Fisker Karma’s per year in the next seven years.

Currently, more than 60 per cent of Americans and Europeans drive less than 50 miles on their daily commute and Fisker is hoping that the introduction of their new hybrid-plug in will encourage the reduction of oil consumption and carbon emissions through the adoption of greener vehicles.
