Siemens Energy acquires 60 per cent share in Steinmuller Engineering

Siemens Energy has acquired a 60 per cent majority stake in German Steinmuller Engineering, which provides engineering for combustion technologies designed to reduce CO2 emissions. Financial details were not disclosed.

‘The existing global fossil-fueled power generation infrastructure will continue to be a mainstay of the power industry. As a result, our customers face an increasing demand for emissions controls to create more environmentally benign sources of power generation,’ said Randy Zwirn, CEO of energy service division within Siemens Energy.

This latest acquisition is part of Siemen Energy’s plan to increase its green portfolio. In 2005, Siemens acquired US-based Wheelabrator Air Pollution Control and Advanced Burner Technologies in 2006.
