Solution Capital Partners makes first investment into cleantech fund

Cleantech private equity fund of funds Solution Capital Partners has made its first investment into Element Partners II, a cleantech fund which focuses on businesses with significant growth opportunities.

Solution Capital held its first closing in December 2008 at $10.8m, consisting mainly general partners’ capital. The final target for the fund is $200m.

Solution CIO Russell Diamond said, ‘We are excited to make our first investment in such a high quality fund as Element. They have expertise in several sectors that we believe offer value and provide opportunities for attractive returns. These sectors include water, green building and industrial processes. They also have an experienced team that can invest across multiple developmental stages and the fund has not been adversely impacted by lower valuations.’

The fund will invest in cleantech private equity funds across stage, geography, subsector and vintage.
