5 February 2010

ITT Water & Wastewater’s Tony Swierk has been appointed to the European arm of the International Ozone Association’s (IOA) board in recognition of his 25 years industry expertise in ozone oxidation.

Swierk, who has worked for ITT WWW and Wedeco for almost three decades, was nominated to the board by a fellow employee and European, African, Asian and Australasian Group board member Jean Yves Perrot of ITT WWW France, and seconded by former colleague and previous IOA International President Robin Lowndes.

Following a formal application and interview, Swierk became an official board member of the European, African, Asian and Australasian Group at the end of 2009 for an open ended term.

Tony Swierk, sales manager, Ozone UK said, ‘It’s a great honour to be nominated and accepted into such an important organisation within the ozone industry. I hope to be able to contribute my industry knowledge to support the board in informing new legislation, as well as supporting research and development of new applications for ozone.’

Robin Lowndes, former international president of the IOA, added, ‘It’s a real privilege to have someone of Tony’s caliber join the EA3G. We rely on the commitment and enthusiasm of our board members to promote the use of ozone for new applications and it is through their industry expertise that we can develop and grow the sector to meet future needs.’

The IOA is a non-profit educational and scientific organisation dedicated to the collection and dissemination of information on all aspects of ozone and related oxygen species technologies. Formed in 1973, it brings together scientists, engineers, systems designers, technologists, equipment manufacturers, and end users to share their experiences and research data on ozone and other related oxygen compounds.
