Australian solar start-up Bright Generation integrates Solon modules into combined PV and thermal system

26 July 2010

Global solar module producer Solon and venture capital-backed Australian solar start-up Bright Generation have partnered to integrate Solon Black solar modules into Bright Generation’s combined photovoltaic (PV) and thermal solar systems.

Bright Generation will integrate the solar modules into its newly-developed combinational product, SolarCombi, a system marketed to Australian homeowners that combines PV and solar thermal power into a single streamlined system, under the new partnership with Solon’s Australian representative CBD Energy.

The SolarCombi is optimally designed to maximise access to the various renewable energy schemes for subsidies in Australia, according to the company.

The Australian government’s target is to require a minimum of 20 per cent of energy to come from renewable sources by 2020 and it has developed a subsidy scheme for private households in August 2009 that will incentivise investments in smaller solar systems.

Bright Generation said Australia is a promising market to launch the SolarCombi due to its very high sunlight resources and photovoltaic and thermal systems feed-in-tariffs and rebates.

Solon is represented by CBD Energy in Australia, a diversified renewable energy and energy storage company listed on the Australian Stock Exchange with offices in Melbourne and headquarters in Sydney.

The Solon Group has subsidiaries in Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, and the US.
