Canadian Solar opens up a new solar photovoltaic cell research centre

Canadian Solar has teamed up with Dupont, University of Toronto and Shanghai Jiao Tong University to open a new solar photovoltaic cell research centre in East China’s Suzhou.

This research centre will consolidate all R&D facilities of Canadian Solar in one place and attempt to strengthen the efficiency of polysilicon cells and proprietary solar grade e-cells. The company hopes to improve the efficiency of cells from 18.5 per cent to 15.5 per cent within a year.

Canadian Solar has financed the majority of the construction, which is close to totaling $10m.
