Kevin Wang to leave Natixis Private Equity Asia

Natixis Private Equity has announced that Kevin Wang, NPEA Partner for China is leaving the firm to set up his own private equity venture. NPEA and Kevin Wang have parted in friendly terms and will continue to work together on specific investment opportunities, according to the firm.

Since its inception the firm has invested in 34 companies including nine Chinese companies for a total amount of $135m. Investments include Chinese solar cell companies LDK and Suntech.

Natixis Private Equity Asia is part of French banking group Natixis group.The firm entered the China private equity market in 2002, with Wang hired in 2002 to support the development.

Natixis Private Equity intends to reinforce its private equity team in China and to increase its funds allocation to its China Private Equity activity, according to a statement.

The firm is actively pursuing transactions in China, and is expected to open a Beijing office within 2009.
