IFC commits to $250m Asian renewable energy-focused private equity fund

The IFC, a member of the World Bank Group, has made a $25m commitment to Asia Environmental Partners, a $250m equity fund focusing on renewable energy and environmental investments.

The fund was placed by Olympus Capital Holdings Asia, a pan-Asian middle-market private equity firm, to make equity and equity-related investments in renewable energy and environmental services companies in Asia.

The fund will target ten to 12 opportunities in the $20m $50m range, in areas including energy efficiency, clean energy distribution infrastructure, renewable energy projects, clean technologies, waste management, water quality treatment infrastructure and pollution control.

Olympus Capital was established in 1997, and to date has invested approximately $1.3bn on behalf of funds and co-investors in approximately 30 portfolio companies throughout Asia.
