2nd July 2009
Lightwave Power, a solar-focused company, has teamed up with Iowa State University to receive a $450,000 loan from the US Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory.
The funding is part of the Photovoltaic Technology Incubator Program and makes up part of the subcontracts of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
The two organisations will develop a roll-to-roll thin film solar cell, designed to increase the performance and efficiency.
David Anthony, managing partner of 21Ventures who together with The Quercus Trust is an investor in Lightwave Power, said, ‘This programme is exciting and we expect it to lead to new ways to increase the performance and decrease the costs of solar cells.’
