Pacific Power Management completes solar power plant for school in California

18 September 2009

Pacific Power Management (PPM) has completed Placer County`s largest solar power plant at a school. The 483KW power plant is now generating solar power for Placer Unified School District, specifically at Del Oro High School in Loomis, California.

PPM financed, owns, and operates the system and PUHSD buys the power generated from the system through a long-term contract known as a power purchase agreement.

The 483KW solar power plant generates over 660,000KWh of electricity per year, providing approximately half of the high school`s total energy requirements. The company said the project is designed to decrease greenhouse gas emissions and is estimated to annually reduce the facility`s carbon footprint in an amount equivalent to 1.9 million pounds of CO2.

PPM said its power purchase agreement provided the customers the ability to buy power at a more predictable rate than from their utility company. PPM`s host customers can realise immediate savings and have the ability to eventually own the system with no upfront cost.

Pacific Power Management is an independent provider of solar power electricity for commercial, industrial, government and utility clients. Established in 2002 as a solar panel installer, PPM has since evolved into a developer and owner of small to utility-scale solar power plants.
