Premier Power signs on for $3m Spanish rooftop solar system

US solar provider Premier Power Renewable Energy has signed a contract for the sale of a .6MW rooftop solar system in Spain. Valued at up to $3m, the project is being financed by a private investor group that has leased the commercial rooftop for a 25-year term.

The commercial rooftop solar system is to employ polycrystalline solar modules provided by General Electric and power inverters supplied by Spanish company Ingeteam.

Bjorn Persson, executive vice president of Premier Power’s European operations, said, ‘The high return and low risk profile of a Premier Power solar system are driving private investors and business owners alike to invest in Premier Power solar systems. With a majority of Spain’s rooftop solar energy targets unmet, and increased government support of rooftop solar systems through a revised feed-in-tariff, the commercial rooftop market has become the leading solar market segment in Spain.’

‘We continue to see a substantial growth opportunity in Spain for rooftop and building integrated solar energy systems, and with our global experience and engineering and design expertise, we feel we are strongly positioned to build on our leadership role in this fast growing market,’ he added.

Premier Power Renewable Energy specialises in the development, design, engineering and construction of large and small scale solar power systems in the US, Spain and Italy. Last month, the company completed production of multiple solar systems in San Joaquin, California.
