PSEG Solar Source and juwi solar are working on three large-scale joint venture solar projects due to be completed in 2010.
Two of the projects are located in Florida, with one in New Jersey. Together the capacity of the three projects totals nearly 30MW.
Colorado based solar energy generation company juwi solar will engineer and construct the project, which were bought by PSEG Global subsidiary, PSEG Solar Source.
The 2.2MW Mars Solar Garden will be the first of the projects to be completed in 2009 next to the headquarters of Mars Snackfood in New Jersey. The largest project is the 15MW solar farm contracted by Jacksonville municipal utility and is set to be constructed in Jacksonville, Florida. The third project is to be located in Wyandot, Ohio, with a planned capacity of 12MW and due to be operational in 2010.
The projects represent a combined investment of $100m by PSEG Solar Source. Each project will use thin film panels by First Solar. PSEG Global is also in the process of developing a 350MW wind farm off the New Jersey Coast.
Managing director of juwi solar Michael Martin said, ‘The sale of these Florida and Ohio projects and the construction of the Mars Solar Garden were the result of hard work by the juwi solar and PSEG Solar Source teams, as well as the various utilities, local communities and state agencies. We look forward to the timely completion of these projects and to the continued growth of utility-scale solar energy across the US.’
