Solar cell components producer Amtech appoints Dr James Hwang to board of directors

Amtech, a producer of components and equipment used in manufacturing solar cells, has added Dr James Hwang to its board of directors.

‘Dr Hwang’s extensive technology experience will be a valuable asset to our board as we continue to expand and enhance our solar product offerings and become increasingly technology focused, said JS Wang, chairman and CEO of Amtech.’ His tremendous knowledge of semiconductor device physics and process technologies will greatly benefit our ability to further adapt from semiconductor technology and to continue to grow and improve our solar capabilities.’

Dr Hwang previously served as executive vice president of R&D at Dongbu-Anam Semiconductor in Korea. Over the course of his 20 years in the semiconductor and solar industries, Hwang also served in senior engineering positions for Texas Instruments and Westinghouse R&D Center, senior management positions at Simtek Corporation and Spansion, and as VP with LG Semicon Company. He has published over 30 papers related to the semiconductor and solar cell areas.

Amtech Systems manufactures capital equipment, including silicon wafer handling automation, thermal processing equipment and related consumables used in fabricating solar cells and semiconductor devices.
