Solar company Engyco plans IPO

18 January 2010

Channel Islands-based solar company Engyco is targeting around €1bn in order to acquire solar projects throughout Europe, according to reports.

Reports suggest that listing the company’s shares is just one of several ways the company is looking to raise financing.

Engyco is reportedly looking to become an industrial-scale pure play solar utility, through initially buying around €3bn of solar projects in Spain before expanding into other parts of Europe. Former head of renewable energy at Banque AIF, Ian Rosen, will head the Engyco.

The company’s director Alex Voigt previously founded solar companies Solon and Q-Cells.

Numis will act as the broker for the IPO if the transaction goes ahead.
