Solar photovoltaic product manufacturer Trina Solar has been selected by solar system operators Renewable Ventures to supply modules for a 2MW photovoltaic project in Fort Collins, Colorado.
The project is to be financed through Renewable Ventures’ Solar V fund, an investment of $200m that will see 35MW of solar projects develop in the next year.
International engineering and project management company AMEC are also involved in the project. They will construct a 15-acre solar array on the campus of Colorado State University, which will be one of the largest undertaken at a US university.
The project is expected to generate enough solar power to provide more than ten per cent of electricity needs for the university’s Foothills campus.
Arturo Herrero, vice president of sales and marketing at Trina Solar said, ‘We believe Colorado State university’s large solar installation and commitment to green campus efforts will further encourage solar adoption at other universities throughout the United States. We are very pleased to work with Trina Solar on this Colorado State university solar project.’
Matt Cheney, CEO of Renewable Ventures, said, ‘We are very pleased to work with Trina Solar on this Colorado State university solar project. Trina Solar has a proven track record, and their demonstrated experience and commitment to their customers made them an excellent choice.’
Renewable Ventures currently has 130MW of solar projects in operation in the US and Europe. AMEC has project experience across a range of renewable energy sectors including wind, biomass, biofuels, waste energy, hydrogen, fuel cells, CCS and clean coal.
