Solar product maker Universal Solar Technology awarded $32m deal by Czech utility CEZ Group

Universal Solar Technology, a developer of solar grade ingot, wafers and solar photovoltaic (PV) modules, has signed a supply deal worth more than $32m with CEZ Group, the largest electricity producer in the Czech Republic.

The $32.6m contract covers the purchase of 20MW of monocrystaline solar modules to be delivered by the end of 2010.

Wensheng Chen, chairman and CEO of Universal, said contract size confirms that the company’s products are of an international standard.

‘We have focused our marketing efforts on sales in China, India and the European Union. With its expertise, new factory and production equipment, we expect Universal will grow quickly becoming a highly efficient supplier to a very rapidly growing market for solar PV products,’ Chen said.

Universal has had its products certified by the Arizona State University PV Testing Laboratory in the US and has passed the standards for selling products to countries in the EU.
