SoloPower appoints two new solar experts

California-based solar module manufacturer SoloPower has appointed Arthur Rudin as vice president of product development and Robert Muhn as general manager of sales.

Lou DiNardo, interim CEO, said, ‘Arthur and Robert both will play instrumental roles as SoloPower nears high volume manufacturing and commercialisation in 2010.

‘Arthur possesses product technical expertise and Robert is a proven success in developing global solar markets,’ he added.

Rudin will draw on his 30 years of photovoltaic industry experience to guide the next wave of SoloPower’s Copper-Indium-Gallium-Selenide product development. Before joining SoloPower, he served as vice president of product development and systems engineering at Solar Integrated Technologies, and director of engineering at the solar energy solutions group of SHARP Electronics Corporation.

Muhn joins SoloPower from Kyocera Solar, where he was responsible for the company’s sales to the grid-connected, off-grid industrial and rural electrification markets in the Americas and Australia.
Prior to Kyocera Solar, he worked at AstroPower, where he implemented a global sales strategy and co-managed a manufacturing and sales joint venture with Atersa in Spain.

He also previously served as a subcontractor to Sandia National Labs and the US Department of Energy, developing programmes focused on productive uses of renewable energies in developing countries.

SoloPower produce thin film solar photovoltaic modules that are fabricated on copper-indium-gallium-selenide materials using a proprietary electrochemical process. The company is headquartered in Silicon Valley, California.
