Southern California Edison calls for renewable energy projects

1 July 2009

Southern California Edison, a US utility for renewable energy, has called for more renewable contracts, with all forms of electricity welcome.

SCE seeks short-term and long-term projects powered by solar, wind, biomass, biogas, oceanic and geothermal fuels. However, the company is particularly interested in solar generating facilities which work well with the company’s location.

‘As a company that encourages progress and excellent value for our customers, we anticipate seeing several innovative projects as a result of this solicitation,’ said Stuart Hemphill, SCE vice president. ‘Every contract we execute for renewable power is good for the industry, our customers, and the environment.’

This is the seventh time the company has called for renewable energy projects, over which time it has secured 48 renewable energy contracts.
