Solar power producer Recurrent Energy has signed agreements with US energy utility Southern California Edison to buy 100 per cent of the power from three of Recurrent Energy’s California solar projects.
Recurrent Energy said it will build and operate the solar power systems, located in Kern County and San Bernardino County, which have a combined peak output of 50MW of power and are expected to be completed in early 2013.
‘These projects are a great example of the potential for distributed-scale solar to deliver significant quantities of power on relatively short timeframes,’ said Arno Harris, CEO of Recurrent Energy. ‘Distributed-scale solar has an important role to play in helping to meet near-term renewable energy goals. This is a clear validation of our approach to developing and marketing solar power in California.’
The three solar photovoltaic ground-mounted power systems, two in Kern County and one 22MW system in San Bernardino County, are sited on private land leased by Recurrent Energy and construction is expected to begin in 2012.
‘SCE sees solar as a key part of our renewable energy strategy,’ said Marc Ulrich, Southern California Edison vice president, Renewable and Alternative Power. ‘We were pleased to work with Recurrent Energy’s experienced energy development, finance, and construction team to bring these distributed-scale solar projects online quickly. Projects like this make big steps toward contributing to California’s clean, green energy future.’
Located in San Francisco, Recurrent Energy is an independent power producer and developer of distributed solar projects for utilities, government, and commercial customers. The company has a pipeline of over 1,000MW of distributed-scale solar projects in development across North America and Europe.
