SunEdison names Jason Gray director of Canadian operations

US solar energy services provider SunEdison has named Jason Gray as director of Canadian operations. Gray joined SunEdison in 2008 as a project developer, and has been managing the company’s solar development activities in Canada.

Prior to joining SunEdison, Gray worked at MNP, an accounting, consulting, and corporate finance firm, where he oversaw client engagements focused on energy and supply-chain management. Prior to this role, he worked as an independent consultant in the oil and gas sector and served as Cargill’s Canadian Regulatory Affairs Superintendent. Gray has spoken about and published several articles on US and Canadian energy sector regulation.

‘Ontario is a growing market for solar, given the Ontario Power Authority’s commitment to renewable energy and strong Feed-in Tariff programme for ground mount and rooftop solar,’ said Brian Jacolick, general manager, North America, for SunEdison. ‘Jason understands the financial, regulatory and environmental concerns that are part of successful solar projects. His background in traditional and renewable energy markets and his experience on the ground for SunEdison in Canada make him an excellent fit for his new position. Gray leads the development for SunEdison of First Light Solar Park in Ontario, Canada. First Light is a 9MW facility scheduled for activation in 2009.

Elizabeth McDonald, president of the Canadian Solar Industries Association (CanSIA) said, ‘Jason has a unique understanding of the renewable energy opportunities and needs we are facing. In his role at SunEdison, he has already helped the industry in Canada to make progress towards its energy goals.’

SunEdison provides close to 80MW of solar power generation capacity under management across 290 solar power plants. The company finances, installs and operates distributed power plants using photovoltaic technologies.
