The Premier of Canadian province Nova Scotia and the Governor of US state Maine have formed a partnership to develop ocean energy technologies along the Bay of Fundy coastline, which crosses the two regions.
Maine’s Governor John Baldacci and Nova Scotia’s Premier Darrell Dexter announced a memorandum of understanding (MoU) earlier this month to work on share information on tidal and offshore wind energy between academics, researchers, policy makers and developers.
‘Nova Scotia has always enjoyed a strong economic, social and cultural partnership with Maine, and this MoU is another example of how our governments will work to grow the economy, create jobs and protect the environment,’ said Nova Scotia’s Premier Darrell Dexter.
Over 100 billion tons of water flow through the Bay of Fundy each day.
The pair reached an agreement during a conference of New England Governors and Eastern Canadian Premiers at Lenox, Massachusetts.
