enXco and Indianapolis Power & Light Company to build 201MW wind farm in Minnesota

21 July 2009

enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles company, and Indianapolis Power & Light Company have signed an agreement to build a 201MW wind facility in southwestern Minnesota.

enXco will develop, build, and own the wind project consisting of 134 1.5MW turbines while IPL will purchase the power generated as part of a 20-year power purchase agreement. The project, expected to come online towards the end of 2010, will be operated and maintained by enXco Service Corporation.

‘This agreement between enXco and IPL builds on the experience our two companies attained through the development of the 106MW Hoosier Wind Project in Benton County, Indiana which is currently under construction. Both projects have excellent access to the high-voltage network in the Midwest allowing customers in Indianapolis to benefit from two of the premier wind-energy basins in the country. We are pleased to extend an already successful relationship with IPL and to continue to add renewable resources to the energy supply mix in the Upper Midwest,’ said Tristan Grimbert, president & CEO of enXco.

enXco recently closed a funding round for the Wapsipinicon wind farm.
