enXco declares 106 MW wind project

enXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles Company, has begun commercial operation of the 106MW Hoosier wind project, which will deliver electricity into the Indianapolis Power & Light Company (IPL) generation portfolio. This project brings enXco’s gross installed wind energy capacity to 965.4MW.

The Hoosier wind project, located near Fowler Indiana in Benton County, consists of 53 REpower turbines each with a rated capacity of 2MW. IPL signed a 20-year power purchase agreement in April 2008, with construction commencing in April 2009.

‘enXco is proud to bring our first wind project in Indiana to completion and begin delivering renewable energy to IPL customers,’ said Steve Peluso, vice president, enXco Midwest Development.

‘Indiana has great potential for future project developments, and we look forward to being a continued partner with the communities and IPL to increase wind generating capacity in the state,’ he added.

enXco constructs, owns, operates and manages renewable energy projects throughout the US. Its portfolio includes solar and biomass technologies, in an effort to help drive our nation’s transition to a sustainable energy economy.
