US manufacturer of propeller-free wind turbines Mariah Power has signed a new long-term supply agreement with MasTech Wind.
The contract will extend production of Mariah Power’s Windspire turbines at MasTech Wind’s Manistee, Michigan factory through to 2014. MasTech Wind began manufacturing the Windspire at its factory in April 2009 after retrofitting a plant formerly dedicated to the automotive industry.
The Windspire turbines are 30-feet tall, propeller-free and work on a vertical-axis designed to harness wind power in urban, suburban and rural locations, Mariah Power said.
Walt Borland, Mariah Power president and CEO, said in MasTech Wind the company has the right partner to make the best possible product for our customers around the world.
‘With this new contract in place we remain committed to using American workers to make the Windspire a true ‘made in the USA’ product,’ Borland said.
The turbines are eligible for a 30 per cent federal tax credit off the total cost of the installation as well as state rebates. Mariah Power said.
